The Way to Responsible Alcohol Drinking

In the U.S., a person has to be 21 years old before he or she is allowed to buy alcohol. Even so, many teens have access to alcohol. Alcohol has a few drawbacks besides becoming addicted. Its effects can be serious, especially among teens. Teens who tend to drink alcohol face clear legal problems. Since it’s illegal for teens to buy alcohol, the mere possession of it can get them arrested. In addition, teens who are drinking liquor are more susceptible to committing crimes than others who don’t.

Individuals who drink frequently have issues with employment too. Drinking can harm a teenager’s ability to focus on his or her studies and get good grades. Their games or ability to pay sports are affected as well since their performance and coordination are affected.

Why Do Teens Drink?

Many teens drink alcohol because they are experimenting with it. This is normal, provided that teens don’t go over the recommended amount. But there are some other reasons why teens drink alcohol, including other drugs. Some say that they have this desire to feel good. Others say that it’s their way of managing stress. Still, there are those that say it gives them comfort.

Those who drink for comfort are the ones that are influenced by older individuals to drink. Sometimes, it’s just that advertisement that shows people enjoying life by drinking. They have this misconception that because people are drinking alcohol socially, including their parents, they’ll feel happy and accepted as they are.

The Effects of Alcohol

Generally speaking, drinking too much alcohol could make you look stupid. If you have this idea that drinking makes you look good, it’s actually the other way around. Drinking alcohol alters the functions of the nervous system in one way or the other. As a result, you do stupid things such as throwing up and peeing on yourself.

Drinking also causes bad breath to people. Furthermore, it leaves you with a nasty hangover that you have to deal with for the rest of the day. It also need not be stressed enough that alcohol may be hazardous to one’s health.

Teens and Alcohol

Teenagers who drink too much tend to be active sexually. They proceed with unsafe or unprotected sex, which isn’t good for them. Pregnancy can alter a teen’s life but acquiring sexually transmitted illnesses may actually end their lives. There’s also that chance of injuring themselves, sometimes fatally, if they are no longer in control of themselves after too much drinking. There are many instances of drowning among teens that are directly linked to binge drinking. Alcohol can raise a teen’s chances of figuring in a crash, suicide, or homicide.

No matter what age or status you are in your life, one thing is certain. Alcohol consumption must be done responsibly. It’s something that comes with a responsibility, and that everyone should practice discretion at all times. It is not illegal to buy liquors. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of San Diego liquors for sale everywhere. What should be done instead is to understand that alcohol is something that should be handled properly at all times.
